New for '10

  • A new rating system is being implemented:
    • Up to 25     Fair
    • 26-30         Good
    • 31-35         Excellent
    • 36-40        Superior with Invitation
    • -2 points    Time and Rule violations
  • Categories that formerly had overall time limits now have specific set-up, performance, and tear down time limits. See specific category rules for these time limits
  • Web Design is no longer a category, but web page has been added as an acceptable genre in the Graphic Design category. The web page must interpret the national theme.
  • Songwriting entries have a new group limit of 5 qualified students.
  • Children's Literature is an official category in the Writing Division
  • Spoken Word Solo is a new exhibition category.
  • A time limit of 5 minutes is allowed for Human Video, SOlo entries. There are 90 seconds for setup and 90 seconds for tear down.

   And a reminder for the District festival art categories:
 
  • Three Dimensional Visual Art has been included as a category
  • Artwork has new size requirements:
    • minimum - 4"x6"
    • maximum - 32"x32"
  • District Competition: Artwork may be brought to the festival as long as it is received by 8:30AM on March 20th
  • All Writing and Short Film entries must be sent to the District Office by the application deadline

Participation in the District Fine Arts Festival is open to any student between the ages of 12 and 17 as of September 1, 2009 or enrolled in grades 6-12 as of September 1, 2009 who attend an Assembly of God church or an Assembly of God youth ministry.

Groups or individuals from other churches may participate on the District level but would not be eligible to advance to the National festival.

Art Division
Graphic Design*, T-shirt Design*, Traditional Photography, Digital Photography, Two-dimensional Visual Art, Three-dimensional Visual Art.
Communications Division
Puppetry Solo/Group, Children's Lesson Solo/Group*, Short Sermon/Spanish Short Sermon*, American Sign Language Solo/Group, Short Film, Web Design.
Drama Division
Drama Solo/Ensemble*, Human Video Solo/Ensemble.
Instrumental Division
Guitar Solo, Keyboard Solo, String Solo, Wind/Brass Solo, Traditional Instrumental Ensemble, Traditional Percussion Solo/Ensemble, Unconventional Percussion.
Vocal Division
Christian Band, Worship Team, Rap Solo/Group, Songwriting, Vocal Solo/Ensemble/Spanish, Choir.
Writing Division
First Person Essay*,
Script Writing*, Short Story*, Book Chapter*, Poetry*, Children's Literature Solo/Collaborated.
Exhibition Division
Spanish Vocal Ensemble, ASL Storytelling, Spanish Human Video Ensemble, Contemporary Instrumental Ensemble, Spoken Word, Worship Dance Solo/Troupe, Performance Art.

*The categories marked with an asterisk must meet the theme interpretation requirement.

Art, Writing, and Songwriting entries must be the original work of the student created  in the current Fine Arts year (after September 1, 2009)
