Friday Activities

Starting after the workshop on Friday morning, we will be offering a variety of activities that you can particpate in. The idea of having these activities is to give you a time to fellowship with one another, build relationships, and enjoy some down time.

Motorcycle Ride - Departing from the Jordan Hotel, you will take a scenic tour of northwestern Maine stopping for lunch along the way. You will need to bring your bike and a little cash for lunch and gas

Shooting - Be prepared to have a great at the range this year where we'll have target and skeet shooting. There will be a cost ($20-25) to help cover the cost of the ammo.  Lunch is on your own. The cost  is payable at the range site.

Paint Ball -  Again this year we'll have a great paint ball event. There will be short games set up so you can try your skill. Dress appropriately and plan on enjoying a great day. There will be a cost to help cover the CO2 and ammo.

                 $25 - Rental package which includes marker, mask, CO2, and 500 paintballs
                  $10 - CO2 fills all day
                  $15 - 500 paintballs

Golf - We will be playing at Sunday River. We will try to divide the teams up to include various skill levels. Our format will be scramble so everyone gets to hit some shots and contribute to their teams success. If you have someone you'd really like to partner with, let us know  and we will do everything we can to arrange that. The cost for this event is $75, that you can pay with your retreat registration, and you will also be responsible for any food you'd like to eat.

Hiking - Leaving from the hotel, a group of men will take a trip up the mountain with great scenic views, fellowship , and exercise. Bring a backpack to carry some water and maybe a snack or two.

On the grounds - There is also an outdoor pool, health club, and plenty of trails to hike or walk for times of introspection or relaxation. We'll also be setting up a couple of horseshoe pitches down by the BBQ site  if you are interested in trying your hand at throwing the iron.


We are returning to the Jordan Hotel Resort. This conference facility has a large meeting room for our general sessions as well as comfortable meeting spaces for our breakouts. The attached hotel has traditional hotel rooms, as well as suites. There is also a meal plan available so that everything can be done in one building. There is an outdoor pool, fitness room, and plenty of trails to hike or walk for times of introspection or relaxation.

Now some details:  Whether you come with a couple of friends or as a group from your church, you or someone in your group will be responsible for reserving the rooms you will need.  With required gratuity or tax, the rooms are about $111 and $145 per night respectively. The standard and studio deluxe sleep four with either a double bed and pullout sofa, or a Murphy bed and pullout sofa (the studio rooms have a kitchenette). You may want to consider the one bedroom suite that will sleep six with a double bed, a murphy bed, a pullout sofa, and a small kitchenette. Of course if you have less than four people in a room, your cost per person goes up, but it is up to you. Be aware that there is a cancellation fee if you reserve a room and do not use it ($50 if cancelled 15 or more days prior, the total deposit if you cancel after that). You can change the number of men in a room, but if you decide that you do not need a room you have reserved, you will be charged that fee from the hotel.

Food….also on the back of the group reservation form is a place for you to request the meal plan for your men. There are not a lot of options for food in May on the mountain, so we are offering a meal plan that includes a hot breakfast buffet on both Friday and Saturday. The cost of this plan is $34.02 per person which includes tax and gratuity. If you are only coming in for Friday afternoon and Saturday, you can just have the Saturday breakfast for $17.01 (includes tax and gratuity). If you do not  sign up for the meal plan, you will need to either bring your own food or plan on finding another spot to eat. Either way, the LFTL Bar-B-Q (Brisket, smoked turkey, salad, potato, corn) Friday evening is provided as part of your registration. 

You will also need to register for the conference through the District office. The cost per person is an inexpensive $40.00. I am extremely excited about this year’s retreat because I believe we are taking the next step in men’s ministry in Northern New England.
