2021 Sectional Councils
This year, all sectional councils, throughout the District will be held virtually. Because there are still many restrictions in place throughout the District, the District presbytery felt that holding virtual sectional councils would allow the greatest opportunity for participation by sectional ministers and delegates.
All the sectional councils will be held on the Zoom platform, and will start at 6:30 PM. The agenda for each council will consist of greetings, reports, business, and in the four sections in Maine an election for the office of presbyter. There will also be a training segment during each council featuring a video presentation with Rob Ketterling, pastor of River Valley Church, on the topic of unity (By the way, the District will be providing a free copy of Rob’s new book, The Speed of Unity, to the first 80 people who sign up for the Invest Conference in May). Everything should wind down by 8 PM. Look over the list below to see the date of your sectional council.
March 1 | 6:30PM – Aroostock
March 2 | 6:30PM – Northern
March 4 | 6:30PM –Central
March 5 | 6:30PM – North Central
March 8 | 6:30PM – Northwest, Southwest, Southeast
You must register to be a part of your sectional council. Ordained, Licensed and Certified credential holders as well as church delegates are eligible to participate in business and the elections of sectional officers.
If you are just registering for yourself, choose your section, click individual, and fill in your name, credential level, and email. This will be like filling in the roster at an in person sectional council. A few days before your sectional council is scheduled, you will be emailed a Zoom invite for your sectional council as well as a link to download your section’s report packet.
If you are the pastor of an Assemblies of God church, and you are planning on bringing delegates from your church to the meeting, you should click on the church button in the registration form. You can then register for yourself with name and email and then enter the number of voting members in the next box. You will then be able to enter delegate names and emails up to the allowable number for your church. (One (1) delegate for every twenty-five (25) voting members or portion thereof. A church with less than 25 voting members is entitled to one delegate.) This will serve as your church’s delegate form for the Sectional council. If you have credential holders attending your church, they will need to register themselves as individuals, and should not be included as delegates.
When participating in the meeting, every credential holder and delegate will need to be on their own device, logged into the Zoom meeting, so that they can vote in elections and on motions. Each credential holder and delegate will receive a Zoom link and a download link sent to the email that is listed when they are registered.
Begin now to join us in prayer for our Sectional Councils. The registration deadline is February 22nd, so don’t delay. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your sectional presbyter or the District office.Register Here
